The market presence of Technical Systems in a global content is in a certain way positioned to gauge market developments. Looking at our growth in a holistic way, we were not affected by the global economic volatility the past few years, but there is a strong correlation between our order book and international economic "hick-ups" that we experience on a six month cycle. We did experience the 2011 third term Euro Zone credit crises in the slowdown of our order book. We have weathered that storm too and are very pleased with the sales increase for the period. The "challenging market position" that we had foreseen 2 years ago for 2011, is replaced by a "stable outlook with some growth". The performance the past year is a collective credit to our team. My thanks go to every individual at Technical Systems for their valued contribution.

Johan Strauss passed away in April 2011 within two days being diagnosed with meningitis. It was a huge loss as he played an instrumental part to establish our Fatiqless™ auger's current quality standard. The quality of our Fatiqless™ auger today is of such a high standard that we have not received a single customer complaint since its inception in 2007.  For his part and contribution to Technical Systems we honoured Johan Strauss by naming a new heat treatment plant after him.

Our personnel structure span of control was enlarged with the following positions. Firstly, Hennie van Deventer (B.Eng) who continued with Johann Strauss' position as Project Engineer and responsible for new machine design for higher production and process improvement. A new position for Research and Development was created and filled by Tinus Britz (B.Tech) with the objective to develop new products. A new Systems Engineering position was created and occupied by Louise Engelbrecht (M.Sc. Eng) with the task to improve information systems, productivity, workflow, procedures and instructions. Michael Green (BA Hons) joined us as Personnel Manager to improve the way we organise, appoint, manage and task our staff, as well as setting standards therein and methods to improve thereon.

The past year our income originates on a % basis from the following geographical areas: Europe 45%, China as a country 19%, America 11%, Middle East 11%, South East Asia 9%, South Africa 3% and the rest 1%.  This distribution was consistent the past three years. Total Auger sales has increased with 36% last year on top of 44% the previous year that makes it almost a double up of sales from the year period to February 2010 . Technical Systems' sales into China mainland has remained between 20% and 25% of sales for some time now.  Largest growth was in Europe and Middle East over the two year period. We have seen sales increases of 25% each of the past two year in the local market. During the past 12 months we have shipped 560 container units abroad. We have set up an office for our manager Mr Fei Zhuang in Qingdao, China. We are currently improving our structure in China from the rented warehouse to a company held by our shareholders in South Africa. Finally, our view that we had for the Chinese market is coming to fruition. We started with this objective during the middle 1990's, and since then the market and business conditions have improved considerably for us.  Our commitment to China will continuously improve from thereon.

Today, we have earmarked the largest capital expenditure program in our history for a single year. This year we will expand production for our auger business with a new heat treatment rod to a flat wire production unit, as well as a continuous in-line auger coiling machine that will produce single augers up to 1000 meters. We occupy 11 factory blocks from 5 landlords and we are committed to seriously consider our own premises this year.

What makes Technical Systems different from its opposition is the innovation applied to customer's needs, processes, product improvement and service to our world wide client base. Our managers are the owners of their own responsibility areas through authority given to them by their critical performance tasks. If there is a need in a specific area that requires a solution, we create a solution with our entrepreneurial minded staff. Our operational processes were invented by ourselves, a process that forms the basis for a long term sustained growth path. Authority has accountability as a prerequisite; therefore Technical Systems is committed to an extremely thorough performance management. We have a stated (1998) set of company values and in this context; accountability is applied individually and collectively, care for our business with integrity, accurate measurement of all parameters possible, open communication with detail debate as well as participative inclusive decision making.

Thank you to our customers for their support during the last year and we look forward to being of service to you.

Kind Regards
Theuns Kühn
