August 2007

Our Technical Systems engineers, Strauss, Kurtz and Le Roux during the commissioning of equipment for the improvement of fatigue stress on the auger product line. During 2006 Mr Straus visited four different countries and obtained quotes from several companies to undertake the manufacture of the equipment, eventually deciding on a European company.  This forms part of our 0.5m capital expenditure plan this year.

The execution of this project was done over an 18 month period and finally commissioned this month. This method of auger production is unique in the world and a first for the industry as no one else has done it before. Our method will improve fatigue properties with up to 30 times as our aim is to have zero defects. Small percentage breakages is common standard and accepted in the industry and we will eliminate all breakages for once and all. This auger will be available for the market as from January 2008.

The two European technicians that assisted our engineers during the commissioning of the zero fatigue equipment this month at our factory.

They enjoyed Cape Town and were originally booked to work on the equipment for 4 days, but got permission from their employer to stay a bit longer in order to enjoy our beautiful city and to visit some of our prestige wine estates as well as the top of table mountain.
